The first school of the week, Rainow Primary, has taken part in all of the Macclesfield RSPB Big School Birdwatches over the last ten years, building up an interesting and important picture of bird life in the school grounds. This year the most exciting spot had to be a huge Grey Heron that took off and circled round the school.
The school regularly feed the birds so as well as looking for birds in the school grounds and wood children could also watch birds visiting the bird table from the warmth of the conservatory.
Children were pleased to spot a Redwing, Blue tits, Great tits, Robins and male and female Blackbirds.
Macclesfield RSPB Wildlife Explorers would like to thank the pupils and staff for hosting a
2016 Big Schools’ Birdwatch.
