March 2014: Chris Packham’s Wild Night Out

Wildlife Explorers, Phoenix, members of the RSPB Local Group and representatives of the South Cheshire Ringing Group headed to Buxton Opera House to join Chris Packham for a ‘Wild Night Out’.

In an entertaining and informative evening Chris covered a wide range of subjects from living with predators to the problems photographing cheetahs and pond skaters on the move. Never one to avoid the controversial topics in conservation he also touched on the issues surrounding the reintroducing of beavers, wolves and lynx as well as the imagined threat from foxes, the badger cull, the persecution of raptors and yes……….Pandas.

The talk was illustrated with some of Chris’s superb wildlife photographs and some short film clips – including some highlighting a rainforest replanting project in Brazil funded by SCA (Velvet toilet tissue).

Despite the crowds waiting to have books and photos signed Chris kindly posed for photos with the group at the end of the evening.
